I’m fascinated with connection. The roots of a tree spread through the ground in the same way veins spread through a body; like transit lines on a map. To me, this pattern is universal, linked to the natural cycles of life. Humanity is just a tiny spec on the earth’s timeline just as our planet is a tiny dot in space. I see my own small life as a part of this pattern; a strand in a web connected to the history and stories that have shaped this time and place. Time is fleeting. To quote Carl Sagan, “We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever.”. My art explores these concepts; weaving my personal narrative into our shared story.
